Biography
Jordan Terrell Carter, known professionally as Playboi Carti, was born on September 13, 1996, in Atlanta, Georgia. He began his music career in 2011 under the name Sir Cartier, but later changed it to Playboi Carti in 2013. He joined Awful Records and worked closely with producer Ethereal, gaining a local following. Collaborating with his cousin UnoTheActivist, Carti released popular songs like “Whole Thang” and “Every Since.”
After graduating from North Springs High School in 2014, Carti moved to New York where he met A$AP Rocky and became associated with his creative agency, AWGE. In 2016, Carti signed with Interscope Records and released his debut mixtape, which included hits like “Magnolia” and “wokeuplikethis*.” This propelled him into the mainstream and led to the release of his debut studio album, Die Lit, in 2018. The album featured tracks like “Love Hurts” and “Shoota” and showcased Carti’s unique style and flow.
In 2019, Carti founded his own record label, Opium, based in Atlanta. After much anticipation, he announced the release of his sophomore studio album, "Whole Lotta Red," which was set to be released on Christmas Day in 2020. Playboi Carti continues to push boundaries in the rap industry with his effortless vibes and hypnotic flows, solidifying his status as a rising star in the music world.
