Medium Build - Downtown Theatre

Well they took out the downtown theatre
For a pub and a tower of flats
They say that for a couple grand
You can live where you watched your movies at
Or meet your girls for apps

And they took out the midtown diner
For a place to wash your car
They say that for a couple bucks
It'll shine like the lights from the boulevard
Or the brightest of the stars

And they took out my father's house
So they could widen up the road
The goin's still the same
But now the gettin's not as slow
Like a bullet to the dome
Or maybe it's more like a pile of slowly melting snow

They say that life goes on
Yeah, and i think they're right
Everything has its time
They say that when you're gone

Well i moved into the country
And i called myself a man
Told someone i loved them
But never let them in
Eventually ran

Then i registered for classes
And i rented books to read
So i could criticize
All of the things people believe
But never turn on me

Then i took my father's words
All his wisdom and his songs
Moved into the city
And forgot every single one
Like night gives in to dawn
And now i roll around
And wonder why i feel so numb
