a-ha - Digital river

1
Copied!
You give a word, I send a word
Now we are friends
I do my bit, I resubmit
Time and again
Down the Digital river we will flow
Climb the Virtual mountain don’t you know
And to mythical places away
What a wonderful way to spend a day
You send a line, I send you mine
Auto spell
Back we go, to and through
Brain carousel
On the Digital river we will drift
In an alien world that don’t exist
A nonsensical pest is what I mean
Burning your eyes out on that screen
As we drift so far downstream
Nowhere is a place we’ve been
Down the Digital river we will go
Climb the virtual mountain don’t you know
Thеre’s a magical world if you insist
Filling all of the blanks your life has missed
I’ve lived…
I’ve been…
Down the Digital river
Down the Digital river
Down the Digital river
Down the Digital river

The meaning of the song

Biography

A-ha is a Norwegian synth-pop group formed in 1982 by frontman Morten Harket, keyboardist Magne Furuholmen, and guitarist Paul Waaktaar. Harket was initially lured away from his blues/soul group Soldier Blue by Furuholmen, and the trio quickly formed a bond that would lead to international success.

In 1984, a-ha released their debut single "Take On Me" to massive success in Norway. However, it was the re-recorded version of the song released alongside their debut album Hunting High And Low in 1985 that catapulted them to international stardom. The groundbreaking music video, featuring a unique blend of pencil-sketch animation and live-action shots, helped propel the song to #1 in eleven countries.

The follow-up single "The Sun Always Shines On TV" continued their success, reaching the top 20 in eleven countries. The band's debut album became a hit in twelve countries and garnered numerous awards, including several Billboard Music Video Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, and Spellemannprisen (Norwegian Grammy) Awards.

Despite their initial success, a-ha struggled to maintain their popularity in the US after the release of their first two albums. However, they continued to find success overseas with their next two albums, and even recorded the theme song for the James Bond movie "The Living Daylights."

In the 1990s, a-ha faced commercial struggles with their album "Memorial Beach" and eventually split in 1994. They reunited in 1998 for a performance at the Nobel Peace Prize concert, which led to a new wave of success with the release of "Summer Moved On."

Between 2002 and 2009, a-ha released three more albums that found success in Norway, Austria, and Germany. They also returned to the US for the first time since 1986 and performed for crowds of over 120,000 in Oslo.

Despite announcing a farewell tour in 2010, a-ha reunited in 2015 and continued to release music and tour the world. Their album "Cast In Steel" reached the top 5 in five countries, and they released an acoustic set for MTV as well as a live album.

Overall, a-ha's legacy as a pioneering synth-pop group with international success and a devoted fanbase has solidified their place in music history.
