The Move
The Move was an English band that was formed in 1965 by Trevor Burton, Chris Kefford (Ace), Roy Wood, Carl Wayne, and Bev Bevan. Originally, Trevor was the guitarist but later became the bassist after Ace's departure. Ace, who was the lead singer, switched to bass when Carl joined the band. Roy Wood, who would later become a key songwriter for the band, played guitar, while Carl Wayne was one of the main lead vocalists and Bev Bevan was the drummer.
The Move rose to fame in Britain during the 1960s and early 1970s with hits like "Blackberry Way," which was written by Roy Wood. Despite their success in Britain and having nine top 20 UK singles within five years, The Move failed to achieve much success in America.
The band went through several lineup changes over the years. Ace left the band due to mental health issues, and Trevor departed after a feud with drummer Bev Bevan. Jeff Lynne, who later became famous as a member of Electric Light Orchestra, joined the band at one point. However, The Move eventually disbanded, with Jeff, Roy, and Bev going on to form ELO.
