Biography :

PinkPantheress (born April 18th 2001) is an English singer-songwriter and record producer. Her identity is mostly mysterious and anonymous, much like her music which stands as a blend of House, Disco, Neo-Soul, Lo-Fi, UK Garage and Pop. Her name derives from the iconic American fictional animated character The Pink Panther. She signed to Parlophone in 2021.

She first started to gain popularity on the video-sharing social network app TikTok in early 2021 where she would share snippets of her music whilst recording them in her University accommodation whilst partaking in online Zoom lectures and seminars.

During her interview with DAZED, she explained her influences:

A lot of my melody choices are from pop punk bands like blink-182 and Good Charlotte, some of the more complex melodies derive from early Panic! At The Disco, the beat choices are inspired by a lot of K-pop, Linkin Park, Frou Frou, and British dance music. My lyrical inspiration is Lily Allen. Her storytelling is both hilarious but captivating. No matter what she’s singing over, I’ll stay for every second just to know what happens next in the narrative arc.

Her first singles “Attracted To You” and “Pain” were both released in January 2021 which gained a steady traction, turning her into a viral sensation. Throughout 2021, she went on to deliver other stand out singles including “Passion”, “Break It Off”, and “Just for me” – as well as collaborating with West London rapper Central Cee in September 2021 for his single “Obsessed With You”, which sampled her latter single.

PinkPantheress later announced her 10-track debut mixtape to hell with it to be released on the 15th of October 2021. The project features all of her aforementioned viral hits, with an added 5 more songs detailing her perils with love and heartbreak.
