Aspirante

Aspirante
Luis “Aspirante” Lucar is a Panamanian R&B/Reggae singer, composer of some of the biggest hit reggae songs in Latin America.

The then ‘90s raising star, Aspirante, began his journey as vocalist covering and remixing salsa music hits from other Panamanian artists.

In 2000, friends, family and people close to him suggested trying to create his own compositions. The first one being Huellas, which caught the hearts of people surrounding him and anyone who got to listen to it, creating a bigger fanbase and gaining some buzz in the music scene. The artist started writing a lot of songs touching different topics such as policital issues, critics to society, and, later, decided to put more emphasis on his personal life, being romance the main topic of his most famous songs.

After a successful year as an independent artist, he got to meet producer and radio personality Andy Van A through one his friends. After that, he got the chance to work with him on his podcast and to professionally record Huellas, which was later heavily promoted by Fabulosa Estéreo, and Me Tienes Que Olvidar, which was the single that rocketed his career by going internationally viral.

After touring Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and the United States with Big Dario, the two release a collaboration called Tienes Que Olvidarla, which had a massive impact in the music industry, and hit single Explícame, Mi Amor.

In late 2003, Aspirante and producer Ismael Barría release the artist’s first ever professional record Tomemos Consciencia, which was a compilation album charged with previous hit singles and additional tracks such as Hermano Menor and La Extraño, both featuring Eddy Lover.

In 2004, Aspirante starts working with his manager Geovany Barahonar and plan the release of his second record and debut studio album Primero Dios, which was charged with the likes of Me enamoré de ella, No Sabes de Amor, Ya Te Fuiste, Prueba de Amor, Chacalería Viviente, and El Aborto.

Aspirante’s success did not meet any limits, and on 2005, he decides to go on a experimental journey trying new genres such as soca on Manda la Beer; later in 2006, the artist remixes melodic Jamaica star Gyptian’s song Serious Times on his track Cenizas.

In early 2007, the now evolved reggae artist starts recording his third record, which, unlike his previous ones, will include a DVD with music videos, interviews, short-films and the extras. After the release and success of the promotional singles for that record, Aspirante gets to collaborate with fellow Panamanian reggae/dancehall superstar Danger Man on the groundbreaking Tú No Sabes de Amor.
