Dream Evil is a heavy metal band hailing from Sweden, formed in 1999 by producer Fredrik Nordström. Nordström had long dreamed of creating his own power metal band, but struggled to find musicians who shared his musical vision. However, fate intervened during a holiday in the Greek islands in 1999 when he met guitarist Gus G, known for his work with Firewind. Despite their age difference, the two hit it off and decided to join forces.

Their first recruit was Snowy Shaw, a drummer known for his work with bands like King Diamond and Mercyful Fate. Initially hesitant, Shaw eventually agreed to play on the band's debut album in a session capacity. Vocalist Niklas Isfeldt, who had previously done backing vocals for HammerFall, also joined the band along with his friend and bassist Peter Stålfors.

Interestingly, the band had never actually been in the same room together until their first promotional photoshoot. Despite this, they quickly gelled and began working on their music. Originally intending to name themselves Dragonslayer, inspired by the medieval themes of their songs, they were encouraged by their label, Century Media Records, to choose a more original name. Thus, Dream Evil was born, a nod to the Dio album of the same name.

With their unique blend of fantasy-inspired lyrics and powerful musicality, Dream Evil quickly gained a following in the heavy metal scene. Their debut album was well-received, and they continued to release albums and tour extensively, solidifying their place as one of Sweden's premier heavy metal bands.
