Cher
Cher, born Cherilyn Sarkisian, is an American music icon known for her incredible versatility and talent in various fields of entertainment. She was born on May 20, 1946, in El Centro, California. Cher began her career in the mid-1960s as one-half of the popular duo Sonny & Cher, alongside her then-husband Sonny Bono. Their hit song, “I Got You Babe,” catapulted them to fame and success.

As the duo’s popularity waned in the 1970s, Cher embarked on a successful solo career, releasing hit songs such as “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down),” “Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves,” and “Dark Lady.” She also became a fashion trendsetter, known for her elaborate outfits on television shows like The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour.

In the 1980s, Cher expanded her career by starring in films such as Silkwood, Mask, The Witches of Eastwick, and Moonstruck, for which she won an Academy Award for Best Actress. She also made her directorial debut in the film If These Walls Could Talk. Cher continued to release successful music albums, including the platinum-selling Heart of Stone.

In 1998, Cher reached a new commercial peak with the release of the hit song “Believe,” which showcased the innovative use of Auto-Tune. Her 2002–2005 Farewell Tour became the highest-grossing music tour by a female artist at the time. Cher continued to wow audiences with her powerful voice and dynamic stage presence.

In 2010, Cher returned to the big screen with the musical Burlesque, showcasing her acting and singing talents once again. Her 2013 album Closer to the Truth marked her first studio album in 12 years and became her highest-charting solo album in the U.S.

Throughout her career, Cher has proven herself to be a multi-talented artist, excelling in music, acting, fashion, and more. Her influence on popular culture and her ability to reinvent herself time and time again have solidified her status as a true entertainment legend. Cher remains a beloved and iconic figure in the music industry, with a career spanning over six decades.
