Formed in 1977, Virgin Prunes were a rock band from Dublin, Ireland. They were known for their theatrical and controversial stage performances.
The band was formed by childhood friends, Gavin Friday and Guggi. Both were in a gang called “Lypton Village” (Which also included Bono).
The Original lineup consisted of Friday, Guggi, third vocalist Dave-iD Busaras, Dik Evans (Brother of The Edge), Strongman (Brother of Guggi), and Pod.
Pod left and was replaced by Haa-Lacka Bintii. Bintii was replaced by Mary D'Nellon during the making of ‘A New Form of Beauty’ and was not credited.
They released their debut studio album ‘…If I Die, I Die’ in 1982.
In 1984, both Guggi and Evans left due to displeasure with the music industry.
In 1986, they released their second studio album ‘The Moon Looked Down and Laughed’. Friday left the same year.
D'Nellon, Strongman, and Busaras continued as The Prunes and released three albums from 1988 to 1991.
