Furniture - All Too Morose Parties

0
Copied!
So they say someday the world will end
When the sun finds all its fuel is spent
Burning out all our hopes and plans
Can't escape this final circumstance
So what's the point of all we do here?
So they say it could all disappear
Giant rock enters the atmosphere
Crashing on everything we hold dear
That would be tragically surreal
So what's the point of all we do here?
Figure it out
Going in circles we are
Propelled around our star
Is there a captain on board?
Please let me out of here
Hurling through infinite space
Requires some kind of faith
In tomorrows staying the same
Please let me out of here
Evolutionary bluff
We made it just to get snuffed
The universe has a laugh
Please let me out of here
Pushing our weight up the hill
We keep on going until
There's something better to do
So they say we might as well be dead
When the sea rises above our heads
Drowning out coupons and grocery lists
Normal life would then cease to exist
So what's the point of all we do here?
Going in circles we are (figure it out)
Propelled around our star (figure it out)
Hurling through infinite space (figure it out)
Requires some kind of faith (figure it out)
Evolutionary bluff (figure it out)
We made it just to get snuffed (figure it out)
Pushing our weight up the hill (figure it out)
We keep on going until
Figure it out

The meaning of the song

Biography

Furniture is a British indie pop band that was formed in 1979 in London. The band was originally a quartet consisting of Jim Irvin (vocals, guitar), Tim Whelan (keyboards), Hamilton Lee (drums), and Maya Gilder (bass). They quickly gained a following in the London music scene with their melodic pop songs and catchy hooks.

Furniture released their debut single, "Why Are We In Love?" in 1981 and followed it up with their first album, "The Wrong People" in 1983. The album received critical acclaim and established the band as one of the leading acts in the UK indie music scene.

Over the years, Furniture went through several lineup changes and released a string of albums and singles that showcased their eclectic sound and songwriting skills. Their music was characterized by lush arrangements, poetic lyrics, and a blend of alternative rock, new wave, and post-punk influences.

Despite not achieving mainstream success, Furniture continued to be a cult favorite among music fans and critics. They disbanded in the late 1980s but reunited briefly in the early 2000s for a series of live shows and festival appearances.

Today, Furniture is remembered as one of the pioneering indie bands of the 1980s, with their music still cherished by fans of alternative pop and post-punk. Their influence can be heard in the music of contemporary indie bands, and their legacy continues to inspire new generations of musicians.
