Bobby Darin - Venice Blue

0
Copied!

{Verse 1}
I saw Venice turn blue
Before my very eyes
I saw Venice turn blue
The moment love died
I walked by the canal
Or through some little square
And echoes of her words
Pursue me everywhere

{Verse 2}
Now my Venice is blue
As the mandolins play
The song she used to sing
Before love slipped away
With the lovers hand in hand
The gondolas go by
I wish that I could weep
But all my tears are dry

{Verse 3}
I see Venice all blue
Before my misty eyes
I see Venice all blue
Because our love has died
My aimless footsteps stop
Before an old café
Or by some little shop
Where she would often stray

{Verse 4}
I see Venice all blue
Beneath the rising moon
And still I look for her
Beside the wide lagoon
And then I try to smile
And hope I can forget
The laughter that we shared
The shining day we met

{Verse 5}
Two pigeons in the square
I now say my goodbyes
Goodbye my vanished dream
Goodbye oh Bridge of Sighs
I've seen Venice turn blue
And too lonely to bear
For she forgot to care

Song Description

Biography

Bobby Darin, born Walden Robert Cassotto on May 14, 1936, in the East Harlem neighborhood of New York City, was a talented musician, actor, and activist. Raised by his grandmother, who he believed was his mother for much of his life, Bobby discovered his passion for music at a young age. By his teenage years, he was proficient in playing multiple instruments and eventually pursued a career in the entertainment industry.

After graduating from the Bronx High School of Science, Bobby briefly attended college before dropping out to focus on his acting career. In 1955, he formed a songwriting partnership with Don Kirshner and signed a record deal with Decca Records. However, it wasn't until 1958 that Bobby's career took off with the release of his hit song "Splish Splash" followed by "Dream Lover" in 1959.

In 1960, Bobby achieved tremendous success with his rendition of "Mack the Knife," which won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year and Best New Artist. Throughout the 1960s, he continued to release chart-topping hits and also ventured into acting, receiving critical acclaim for his performances in films and television shows.

Bobby's life took a tragic turn in 1968 when he witnessed the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, whom he had been supporting during his presidential campaign. Shortly after this traumatic event, Bobby learned the truth about his biological parentage from his birth mother, Nina. This revelation, along with the loss of his close friend Bobby Kennedy, deeply impacted Bobby and led him to retreat from the public eye for a period of time.

In the early 1970s, Bobby made a comeback with his own TV show and continued to showcase his musical talents. However, his health began to deteriorate, and he underwent multiple open-heart surgeries. Tragically, Bobby Darin passed away on December 20, 1973, at the young age of 37.

Despite his untimely death, Bobby Darin's legacy lives on through his timeless music, impactful performances, and dedication to social and political causes. He will always be remembered as a multi-talented artist who left a lasting mark on the entertainment industry and beyond.
