Through the world you forage ever forth
C-section, lights, yet another successful birth
Naked scream as you're pulled to life from foreign will
Raised void of fear, always girded by wealth and mirth
Fitted out with capacitance and prying skill
Notions of life, that you go through mechanically
Parents hope, in education you shall never quail
But at its end waits a worrisome clarity
Understand that they built you to eventually fail
Avail!
Like snails you slithered
Thought time was not a threat
At death soon shivered
And all your life's regret
Like snakes I slithered
Spewed forth a righteous lie
But still I withered
To age and rot and die
Like worms we slither
Towards that lapsing light
From sin delivered
But still no hope in sight
You were taught that for worth you would have to
Toil and strive to acquire what was advertised
Car, house, kids and yet still you pursue
That calf of gold, that waits sterile, lifeless, carburized

In your youth swore an oath to your friends that
Leaving them would be nothing less than treachery
Now in age you all wait for amends
As the TV screen overshines their fading memory
Lone, waiting there listlessly
As age comes in waves, never to leave
Hold tight and don't look ahead
Nightly the brooding will follow
Even all that cash won't force your kids to stay
Earning tough pills to swallow
And you just sit there and wait
You're struggling, following, smothering
Holding onto that thin thread that was laid out
Sleepwalk through life, in the manger you sink your snout
While the days to years route
Still grovelling, swallowing, wondering
Drivel from your phone seeds out what you won't doubt
Blame those with less, or with more and then vanish
In the crowd
Pride you only can feel when you bow
Worms small slither 'neath ere the sunrise
Worms small soon shall realize:
You will all die alone
One last lie to pray ere the curtains fall and you then draw your last breath on this godless world
