Long ago, in a not too distant land
There lived an enlightened one
A being of pure presence, pure light, pure mind
In every waking moment, this being existed in a soulful connection to those around it
And to itself
Free from obligation
Without the hunger for morе
And with the ability to stop and breathe
But thеn, one day, the purity of this being was challenged
Not by an enemy, but by a thought
Drifting down the stream of the mind
Getting snagged as the being realized their power
"Wouldn't the world be better if I was ruler?
We would no longer have to live at the mercy of the world
We could never go hungry
We could ward off death"
But a new and malicious anxiety arose in the being
An anxiety separate from those natural fears they were accustomed to
A new fear
That stripped the being of their presence
For now, their minds were occupied by choice and control that used to be out of their hands
Worried about how to best manipulate the world for their purpose
As opposed to existing in the world as a purpose
The flow in the river of the beings mind had been altered
And today, the water flows down a different path entirely
The old riverbed arid and dry
The momentum of the stream completely shifted and growing
An entire fortress built upon where a single branch was once snagged
The foundational roots digging deeper into the mindstream than is possible to imagine
But still, a hope lingers amongst us that we can be pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pure once again

The pursuit of purity encourages me to place thought in my decisions
But intentionality's a double edged sword
Too much info stored makes my mind a prison
System overload
Stream is overflowed
Takes me out the zone when zoning's my whole mission
To stay focused on the moment
Can control allow my soul in?
I just wanna feel joy and pain and pride
And pull distractions from my mind
Behold the kindness in my eye
When I say we should feel alive in the truest sense
Derive our lives from something other than analysis
Cuz we like robots boxed inside a malicious OS
Filled with concepts that we can't escape
The kitchen's abundantly full
But there's no food for thought but cake
And even though it's scrumptious
It punctures my living desire to participate
In a world where I can't tell the real from the fake
Even inside my own mind
Moments are glimpses in time
Makes it absurd to describe
My passion's compassion
The question I'm asking
Is how can I have it in the purest fashion?
The answer I've found is that I need to let go and live in abstraction
Become a prism of rainbow refraction
My soul turns inanimate, knowing its place
Gapping the schism 'tween now and always
Comprehending all time and space
While simultaneous not knowing a thing
