DJ Screw, born Robert Earl Davis Jr., was an influential hip-hop DJ and music producer based in Houston, Texas. He is credited with creating the famous chopped and screwed mixing technique, which revolutionized the hip-hop and rap music scene.

Born on July 20, 1971, in Smithville, Texas, DJ Screw discovered his passion for music at a young age. In the 1980s, he began experimenting with sampling old tracks and creating unique mixes that would later become his signature style. He quickly gained a following in the Houston music scene and started producing mixtapes under the name The Official Screw-Tape Mixtape Series.

DJ Screw's music was characterized by its slow tempo, chopped-up samples, and hypnotic beats. His mixtapes featured collaborations with various artists, including members of the Screwed Up Click, such as Pimp C, Lil' Keke, Fat Pat, Big Pokey, Big Moe, and Big Hawk.
