Rare Americans - Fortune Cookies

0
Copied!

{Verse 1}
We stood in the kitchen looking for the answers
A bag of fortune cookies sitting on the counter
We thought "Fuck it, why not?" I guess it's worth a shot
Cause we were both pondering a lot
There are big changes ahead, but they will be good ones
Mine said "You should go explore, and take a vacation"
So fuck it, why not? I guess it's worth a shot
That's the closest to a sign I ever got
That's the closest to a sign I ever got

{Chorus}
There's no guru
There's no fast lane
Happinеss, a working man's game
You got no one but you to blame

{Verse 2}
If I could givе myself a few pieces of advice
To a younger version of me coming from the same life
What would I begin to write?
What would I began to write?

{Verse 3}
First, don't fuck up your life
Split-second decision ain't worth the price
And no one wants to deal with the stress of making right
It's easier to walk away than roll the dice
Sometimes the safe bet's to think twice
How many times I gotta give the same advice?

{Chorus}
There's no guru
There's no fast lane
Happiness, a working man's game
You got no one but you to blame

Rare Americans

The meaning of the song

"Fortune Cookies" by Rare Americans is a reflective song about seeking guidance and advice from unexpected sources. The lyrics describe a moment of uncertainty, where the protagonist and a friend turn to fortune cookies for a sign. The song explores themes of self-discovery, making decisions, and taking responsibility for one's own happiness. The chorus emphasizes that true happiness is not found in external sources or quick fixes, but rather in the choices we make and the effort we put into our own lives. With a blend of introspective verses and a catchy chorus, "Fortune Cookies" encourages listeners to take control of their own destiny and trust in themselves to find their own path to fulfillment.

Biography

Rare Americans are a Canadian based band that perform mainly rock/alternative music. Their songs frequently focus on telling a story such as “Cats, Dogs, and Rats,” “I vs I,” and “Pay Me Back.” They have three members; James, Lubo, and Jared. James is the lead singer, Lubo is the Guitarist, and Jared does all the behind the scenes work. James and Jared are brothers.

Previously, James and Lubo were in a band together called “The Lunas.” While James and Jared were on a trip to the Caribbean, James jokingly said to him that they should write a song and instead Jared replied with “A song? Why not a full album?” After they returned, Lubo joined into their band as well. They kept thinking of names until randomly Jared suggested the name “Rare Americans” and it stuck. That’s how Rare Americans was born.
