Tim Bergling, known to the world as Avicii, was a Swedish record producer and DJ who made a lasting impact on the electronic dance music (EDM) scene. Born on September 8, 1989, he rose to fame with hits like “Levels” and “Wake Me Up,” which helped redefine the genre and make it more accessible to a wider audience.

Avicii’s musical journey began when he chose his stage name based on a conversation with a friend about Buddhist hell. He liked the sound of “Avicii” and decided to use it since his real name was already taken on social media. Throughout his career, he collaborated with a diverse range of artists from different genres, showcasing his versatility and creativity.

Despite his success, Avicii faced personal struggles, including health issues related to excessive drinking and overworking. In 2014, he underwent surgery to remove his gallbladder after it ruptured, and he vowed to stop drinking alcohol. However, his demanding schedule and dedication to his music led to him pushing himself to the limit, resulting in his tragic death by suicide on April 20, 2018.

In the wake of his passing, Avicii’s family announced the release of a posthumous album titled TIM, featuring some of his unfinished projects.
