New Musik was a British synthpop band formed in 1977 in London, consisting of lead vocalist and frontman Tony Mansfield, bassist Tony Hibbert, drummer Phil Towner, and former Nick Straker Band member Nick Straker. Mansfield, who was also a songwriter and record producer, had previously played with Phil Towner on The Buggles' hit single, "Video Killed the Radio Star".

The band made their debut on the BBC TV pop programme Top of the Pops in October 1979 with their first single "Straight Lines", which received airplay on BBC Radio 1 and WPIX-FM in New York. Their debut album "From A to B" was released in 1980 and reached the Top 40 in the UK Albums Chart. The album included hit singles such as "Straight Lines", "This World of Water", "Sanctuary", and their most commercially successful single "Living by Numbers".

In 1980, Casio used "Living by Numbers" in a TV advertising campaign for its digital calculators, capitalizing on the phrase "Such a digital lifetime" from the song. New Musik's catchy synthpop sound and clever lyrics garnered them a loyal following and solidified their place in the 1980s music scene.

Despite their success, New Musik disbanded in the early 1980s, but their music continues to be remembered and appreciated by fans of synthpop and new wave music. Tony Mansfield went on to have a successful career as a producer and songwriter, working with various artists in the music industry.
