Thebe Neruda Kgositsile, better known by his stage name Earl Sweatshirt, was born on February 24, 1994. He is a multi-talented artist, working as a rapper, producer, DJ, and former member of the LA-based collective Odd Future. Earl gained recognition with his debut mixtape, Earl, released in 2010 alongside Tyler, The Creator’s Bastard and the group’s Radical. The mixtape was released for free, helping Odd Future rise to fame and sparking both critical acclaim and controversy due to the group’s provocative lyrics.

Despite his early success, Earl faced personal struggles that led to his mother sending him to Samoa for two years at the Coral Reef Academy. In 2012, he returned to Los Angeles and contributed to The OF Tape Vol. 2 and Frank Ocean’s debut album, channel ORANGE. Earl released his debut album, Doris, in 2013 to great acclaim, showcasing his production skills alongside collaborators like The Neptunes, RZA, BADBADNOTGOOD, Frank Ocean, and Tyler, The Creator.

In 2015, Earl released his sophomore album, I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside, which took a more introspective and melancholic direction. The album was produced solely by Earl, except for one track produced by former Odd Future member Left Brain. Following a three-year hiatus from music, Earl returned with the critically acclaimed Some Rap Songs in 2018, addressing personal losses such as the death of his father, poet Keorapetse Kgositsile, and close friend Mac Miller.

In 2019, Earl surprised fans with the sudden release of the EP FEET OF CLAY, marking his first project since departing from Columbia Records. Earl continues to push boundaries in the music industry, showcasing his unique artistry and emotional depth with each release.
