Miles Parks McCollum (born August 23, 1997 in Mableton, Georgia), better known by his stage name Lil Yachty, is an American rapper and singer from Atlanta, Georgia. He’s known for his comical lyrics and unique melodies—not to mention his cherry-red hair.
Yachty was rocketed into the spotlight in 2016, when “1Night,” from his Summer Songs EP, went viral after it was used in a comedy sketch. Soon after, Yachty released his Lil Boat mixtape—which features an extended version of “1Night,” along with a remix of “Minnesota” with Young Thug, Quavo, and Skippa Da Flippa.
Signed to Migos‘ management team Quality Control, Yachty uses Atlanta’s signature trap-flavored beats, along with his unique auto-tuned vocals. His Lil Boat mixtape identity switches between light-hearted, melodic Lil Yachty, and the deft emcee Lil Boat.
Yachty continued to dominate summer 2016 with Summer Songs 2, the follow-up to the original EP. In the following years, he released his debut album Teenage Emotions., followed by other mixtapes and albums Lil Boat 2, Nuthin' 2 Prove, and the now released Lil Boat 3 (2020).
In April of 2021, after a 1 year delay, Yachty drops his commercial mixtape "Michigan Boy Boat", Yachty first teased the concept of this project in a tweet on June 9, 2019, claiming that it would drop before Lil Boat 3, but it would be delayed until May 2020, thats when the tape got fully delayed because of the 2020 Pandemic.
On January 13, 2023, Yachty announced his 5th studio album, "Let's Start Here", unfortunately the album got leaked back in December of 2022, Yachty confirmed that the album was not named "Sonic Ranch", as many thought. Upon release, Yachty would confirm these leaks four days later and officially release a trailer via Youtube a week later.
