Nate Rose - The Hatchet

1
Copied!
Hook:
I thought we buried the hatchet, but i see the axe and i notice it wasn’t in the ground
I had to let go of grudges for all of that hate on my heart had em holding me down
I had to get rid of ego inside of me, i ain’t put him in a hole in the ground

Verse 1:
I wanna grow to be proud of the man i’ve become
And know that my family feel it
Momma just put up her house, and slept on the couch, cuz she couldn’t stand to be in it
Step-dad up and dipped, with some other bitch, and said he don’t love her no more
Told her i got her and don’t evеn trip
But if i catch him out in public
I might slap the fuck out that bitch
But for now we levеl way up
Grandma got her prayed up
Lawyer got her paid up
No more tripping off a break-up
Time to get our weight up
I don’t like to wait up
I ain’t tryna take up
No more time to make up
Any more excuses
Gotta chunk the deuces
Middle finger, motherfucker, see you later
I know that everybody gotta sleep in the bed that they made
For him it’s a grave
The life that i’m building for me and family now at this stage
All came from playing on stage
I know i’m blessed
Walking round town with an s on my chest
Know that my girl take a shit on my ex
I dodged a bullet but not overlooking the fact that i truly do wish her the best
But i know that she doesn’t wish me the best, hmmm
Hook:
I thought we buried the hatchet, but i see the axe and i notice it wasn’t in the ground
I had to let go of grudges for all of that hate on my heart had em holding me down
I had to get rid of ego inside of me, i ain’t put him in a hole in the ground

Verse 2:
Nothing means more to me now, than holding it down for all of my people around
We been on the straight and narrow
But if anybody touching my dinero
Or if anybody wasn’t clear about it from the jump
Then i’ll shoot it straight like an arrow
You coming at any person in my inner circle
Then i’m going to war with a smile
I’m feeling reckless
My inhibitions got a death wish
Now all that my opps are left with is a hand in a death grip
Holding the logo of lexus
Conversations with myself
I know my inner demons feeling present
I thought we let ‘em go for the investment
I guess they’re coming back with a vengeance

Hook:
I thought we buried the hatchet, but i see the axe and i notice it wasn’t in the ground
I had to let go of grudges for all of that hate on my heart had em holding me down
I had to get rid of ego inside of me, i ain’t put him in a hole in the ground
I wanna grow to be proud of the man i’ve become
And know that my family sound
They’re safe and they’re sound
Verse 3:
But i started feeling different
In an instant
Inhibitions
Cuz my life’s in mint condition
What’s the price of this intention
Dissonance inside my intuition
Listening to everybody’s woes around me
While i’m sipping, kicking it inside my home
While mom’s at home and down and out
And drowning out her inner sickness
Isn’t this a bit pretentious
For me to be
Giving tips and getting rich off penmanship and flipping shit
In different ways
I celebrate and dwell on days that i was in the same predicament
Cuz i thought we buried the hatchet
But i had to take out an axe and get rid of all of the rot in my family tree for our benefit

Nate Rose

The meaning of the song

Biography

Nate Rose is a hip-hop artist & creative often referred to as the “James Bond” of rap for his debonair demeanor and emphasis on intellect. Exploring relationships, business, and politics, Rose touches on topics with a fresh perspective backed by tasteful instrumentals and eloquent delivery.
Rose participates in every level of artistry, having developed skills out of necessity for a thriving career. The Nashville native handles all the production, graphic design, and video production for his projects, which collectively encompass his artistic vision, actively maintaining creative control over each stage of his work.

“This white boy is f*** #DOPE!!” says Houston based hip-hop blog, Diamondz-n-Wood. “From the artwork to the production to the lyrical content and delivery… I was supa impressed. I see him doing some big s in the FUTURE.”

With more than 1 million combined streams across listening platforms with no label backing or external investment, Rose has built an organic fan base through intricate lyricism, decadent melodies, and a strong desire and drive to be one of the greats. He has sold more than 1,500 physical copies of his debut Polymath EP, setting a precedent for his newly released CrossFire EP, which features Bay Area newcomer Rexx Life Raj. In addition to a successful physical campaign, Nate Rose has a strong social media presence totalling 26,000 combined followers across major platforms.

HipHopDX says, “[Nate Rose] is definitely an artist worth follow…on and off Twitter.”

An explosive live performance landed Nate Rose on several grandiose stages, including Eaglepalooza alongside multi-platinum artist Keri Hilson at the University of Southern Mississippi, Import Alliance at the Kentucky Speedway, and The Raider’s Choice Awards. He has also shared the stage with Chicago legend Twista, Ying Yang Twins, OG Maco, and Caskey on separate occasions in between headlining events. “Tea time” with Nate Rose, backflips on stage, crowd surfing, and live freestyles are among the antics you might anticipate at a Nate Rose show.

“My creative process is a selfish one,” says Nate. “I write from experiences, and having full creative control over how I want a particular song to sound, what I want to say, and the effect I want it to have provides an avenue for artistic transparency and honesty. However, when I’m on stage is where it is no longer about me. My sole purpose in that moment is to provide the most entertaining show that I can for the people that paid their hard earned dollars to see me. It is a humbling experience, knowing that you are reciprocating that energy back to the people that make my career as an artist possible. It really is a beautiful thing.”

Rose grew up in Cleveland, TN, a small city with a significant lack of a music scene. With limited resources available, the hip-hop emcee was forced to develop a plethora of skills in order to progress his career. His passion led him to studying music business at Middle Tennessee State University, receiving a formal education in a thriving artistic community while simultaneously developing his craft.
His music is ebullient and honest, swathed in genre-bending rhythms that stem from his diverse palette of musical influences ranging from Drake to System Of A Down. His records radiate energy and intellect, equally fitting for a club setting as well as a fireside chat. With this concoction, you can feel productive about turning up, knowing that you’re learning something while doing it.
