Tora, stylized as TΩRA, is an electronic band hailing from Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia. The band was formed in May 2013 and quickly began making waves in the music scene with their unique sound and captivating live performances.
In 2013, Tora released their self-titled EP, which was followed by another EP titled Eat the Sun in 2014. These releases helped establish the band's signature sound, blending elements of electronic music with soulful vocals and intricate production. In 2015, Tora released their full-length debut album, High Enough, which featured songs from their EPs as well as new singles.
Following the success of their debut album, Tora released their second album, Take A Rest, on June 9, 2017, through eightydays records. The album further solidified the band's reputation as one of Australia's most exciting electronic acts, showcasing their growth and evolution as musicians.
In 2019, Tora released their third album, Can’t Buy the Mood, also via eightydays records. The album continued to push boundaries and explore new sonic territories, demonstrating the band's commitment to innovation and creativity.
The name Tora is derived from the Greek word "τώρα," which means now. The band has explained that this word resonates deeply with their approach to music and life, emphasizing the importance of being present and embracing the moment.
