Heath McNease - The Wrist

0
Copied!

{Hook}
Come and sit where PBR is the drink of choice
These people are getting blitzed
With bracelets on they wrists
No, this ain't my kind of scene most days
But they paid me finally
Making bricks
Put a bracelet on my wrist

{Verse 1}
Yeah
Mixtape gargantuan
Part samplin'
Part heart, hard part to Carlos Santana then
Part polyester blend, part lanolin
Part sure thing, part gamblin'
Handle it
Y'all some over-gassed, ADAT vocal trackers
Global factors don't take that from local rappers
Promoter babble say they want my doper patterns
Sober napper while you rollin' in a broken saddle
You'se a Brokeback Mountain mat yoga master
Us Magazine and Kotex on Kroger counters
Simon Cowell, X Factor
Black Colin Powell
Perfect 10 last night, Rebecca Lobo after
Domo arigato
Yoko Ono got 'em
Though proboscally as prominent
It's bony Tony Romo nostrils
Broken bottles
40 ounce ogre goggles
Cobras on the sofas sorta kinda supermodels
Or is it just the Jagermeister talking
To the saber tiger
Chompin' on the tamer's (?...) coffin
Laser light is often on a vagrant's tiny office
When you makin' tiny progress, you're replaced to hide the profits

{Hook}
Come and sit where PBR is the drink of choice
These people are getting blitzed
With bracelets on they wrist
No, this ain't my kind of scene most days
But they paid me finally
Making bricks
Put a bracelet on my wrist

{Verse 2}
Free 99
Free 99
I'm broke homie, hit me with that free 99
Sound tumultuous, ulcerous
Money-grabbing vultures with an open-hand
Is this what the culture is?
You work a 40 hour week? I'm working triple that
And you can't put a nickel back in the system you just attacked
It's no wonder that your favorite rapper's dead
Imagine all his sleepless nights scratching at his head
Scrapping for his rent
Imagining his kids
Praying that they'll never be as passionate as him
Hope they'll be a doctor, maybe astronaut instead
Social worker, maybe teach 'em math to get ahead
'Cause what this game will get you
Jaded, bitter, menstrual
Rules you can't afford to pay
No Avis with no pit crew
No agencies to (?...) through
No savings and no big moves
Just shady little venues and they basically will pimp you
But now with bracelets on my wrist
But I never taste that alcohol, I never take a sip
I'm just here to rap and baby maybe make a brick
That's fifty 20's homie
Now stack it and make it swift

{Hook}
Come and sit where PBR is the drink of choice
These people are getting blitzed
(Bracelet on my wrist!)
No, this ain't my kind of scene most days
But they paid me finally
Making bricks
Put a bracelet on my wrist

The meaning of the song

Biography

Heath McNease is an indie rapper slash alternative folk artist slash Twitter comedian from South Georgia (or Jawjah, as he would say). He’s arguably the most hard-working upcoming artist, having released 15+ projects over the last 5 years (by comparison, most artists release an album every year or so)

Associated artists:
Playdough, Redcloud, Propaganda, JGivens,Pigeon John, Greg Lafollete, ManChild, Jetty Rae, Isaac Knox, HeirJordan.

Associated Acts:
- Free Daps
- Pen Pals
- Whose Rhyme is it Anyway (defunct)

Genres:
- Singer-Songwriter, Folk, Parody, Hip-hop (southern, classic, nerdcore)

For fans of:
- The Swell Season
- The Avett Brothers
- The Civil Wars
- The Weepies
- Simon & Garfunkel

Growing up, his musical influences included folk artists like Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles, and The Carpenters.

However, thanks to his older brothers, Heath’s also a hip-hop nerd, particularly fond of gangsta and Southern rappers like Outkast and Warren G, “f-bombs and all”.

He attended Valdosta State University and graduated in 2006 with a degree in musical theater.

Though faith heavily influences his music, Heath wouldn’t necessarily classify himself as a “Christian” artist. He’s no squeaky-clean, Chris Tomlin, Contemporary Christian Music musician. He exposes his doubts and fears about faith honestly.

From serious to trivial, Heath is a melange of musical styles and content:

For honest, heartfelt biographical and spiritual content set to mellow folk, check out one of his newer releases, Who Knows? Who Cares?.

For an example of hilarious, multi-syllabic pop culture references layered over your favorite catchy hip-hop beats, check out his newest singles, Rapper and Bicentennial Man (Michigan).
