Nigel Olsson is an English rock drummer and vocalist who has made a significant impact on the music industry through his work with legendary artist Elton John. Born on February 10, 1949, Olsson began his music career as a member of the bands Plastic Penny and Uriah Heep before joining Elton John’s band as a drummer and backing vocalist.

Throughout his time with Elton John, Nigel Olsson played on many of the singer’s most iconic albums, including the critically acclaimed Honky Chateau, Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only the Piano Player, and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. His drumming skills and vocal harmonies became an essential part of Elton John’s sound, contributing to the success of the albums and live performances.

After parting ways with the Elton John Band in the mid-70s, Olsson pursued a solo career and found success with singles such as “Dancin' Shoes” and “Little Bit of Soap,” both of which charted in the Top 40. Despite his solo success, Olsson later rejoined the Elton John band for a brief period in the 80s before reuniting permanently in the 2000s. He continues to tour with Elton John and is currently accompanying him on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour.
