Aaliyah - Giving Up

0
Copied!

{Verse 1}
Giving up
Is hard to do
When you really
Love someone
Giving up
So hard to do
When you still depend upon
His warm and tender touch
His kiss and his caress
Ooh, that used to mean so much
And bring you happiness oh, oh, oh

{Verse 2}
Giving up
So hard to do
I've tried (uh uh)
But it just ain't no use
Giving up
So hard to do
I said I've tried
But it just ain't no use

{Bridge}
But my light of hope
Is burning dim
Oh but, but in my heart I pray, yeah
That my love and faith
In the man
Whoah, will bring him back someday
Aye-yeah, aye-yeah

I'm talking about
Giving up somebody

Ooh, whether
Whether he knows or not
He really needs me too
I said the man
Is all I got
Yes he is
And giving up
Giving up is so hard to do
Oh-oh-oh

Giving up
So hard to do
Giving up
So hard for me to do
I said I've tried it
Hey, can't breakthrough
I don't want to lose you
'Cause you mean
So much to me
Ooooh giving up

Biography

Aaliyah Dana Haughton, known simply as Aaliyah, was born on January 16, 1979, in Brooklyn, New York, but was raised in Detroit, Michigan. She began her career at a young age, appearing on the American talent show Star Search at just ten years old. In 1994, she released her debut album, Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number, which launched her into the music industry.

In 1996, Aaliyah signed with Atlantic Records and released her sophomore album, One in a Million, which featured production from Timbaland and songwriting from Missy Elliott. The album spawned hits like “One in a Million” and “4 Page Letter,” solidifying her as a rising star in the R&B world. Despite her success in music, Aaliyah continued her education and graduated with a 4.0 GPA from the Detroit Performing Arts High School in 1997.

Aaliyah’s talent extended beyond music, as she made her acting debut in the year 2000 in the film Romeo Must Die alongside Jet Li. The film’s soundtrack featured the hit single “Try Again,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Aaliyah went on to release her self-titled album in 2001, featuring singles like “Rock the Boat” and “More Than A Woman.”

Tragically, Aaliyah’s life was cut short on August 25, 2001, when she died in a plane crash in The Bahamas. Despite her untimely passing, she posthumously won several awards, including two at the American Music Awards. Aaliyah’s music catalog was unavailable on streaming platforms for many years, but in 2021, her music finally became accessible to fans once again.

Aaliyah’s legacy continues to live on through her timeless music and impactful contributions to the world of R&B. Her influence can still be felt in the music industry today, as she is remembered as the “Princess of R&B” and a true icon of her time.
