Sha Na Na is a rock n roll revival group that has been entertaining audiences since 1969. Formed on the campus of Columbia University in New York City, the band began performing acapella together before transitioning to a full-fledged rock band. Taking inspiration from the music and street culture of the 1950s, Sha Na Na quickly gained popularity for their energetic performances and unique style.

Named after a song by the Silhouettes, Sha Na Na rose to national fame after their performance at Woodstock in 1969, just before Jimi Hendrix took the stage. Their blend of nostalgia and humor struck a chord with audiences who were experiencing a resurgence of interest in the 1950s during the 1970s.

In 1978, Sha Na Na gained further recognition when several of their covers were featured in the movie adaptation of the musical Grease. The band itself appeared in the film as Johnny Casino and the Gamblers, solidifying their place in pop culture history.

From 1977 to 1981, Sha Na Na had their own network TV show, which combined sketch comedy and music in a family-friendly format. The show paid homage to the nostalgia of the 1950s while also poking fun at the trends and quirks of the 1970s. Each episode famously ended with the band performing the song, "Good Night, Sweetheart," leaving audiences with a sense of nostalgia and joy.

Throughout their career, Sha Na Na has continued to delight audiences with their infectious energy and love for rock n roll music. With their unique blend of parody and homage, the band has solidified their place as icons of the rock n roll revival genre.
